Over the last two weeks, Explorer scouts from Sheet and Liphook Explorer scout units have been undertaking their stage 4 badge in Emergency Aid, with 28 Explorers achieving their stage 4 Emergency Aid badge.
- This involves training in the following:
- Managing an unconscious patient, who may or may not be breathing
- Treatment of bleeding and burns
- Assessment and management of a patient with heat exhaustion or hypothermia
- Treatment of conditions such as a choking, an asthma attack or a heart attack.
- Management of patients with a head injury, spinal injury broken bone or sprains and strains
- Assessment and management of a patient with meningitis.
